Default lexus will not start

alright so i have an idiot for a friend who has an ls400 like mine and he was doing some work on the car while it was running and some how got a rag stuck between the camgear and the timing belt i removed the rag for him and afterword the car would not start. he says that when the rag got stuck the engine shut off like 4 seconds later. so i figured the timing was off and i was right i re adjusted the timing. yet still the car does not start. does anyone have any ideas on how to deal with this? any help will be greatly appreciated.

look over everything, sounds like something killing spark/air/fuel, the motor is most likely NOT damaged as 1st gens arent interference engines.

Does it sound like it wants to start???
Are you sure that when you did the timing, that every thing was set (start from the begining), or did you just re-set the side that ate the rag? My intention is not to be-little you, I just need to know what has been done. What was your friend working on?
Start by checking basics "fuel, spark, compression". Please let us know a little more, and I am sure one of these guy's will have the answer.
Take care and sorry to here about your idiot friend...we all have them, and we wouldnt be the same with-out them
