Default im in ur doorz (a problem with my driver's side power window '90)

makin ur windowz not work properly.

i've been having a problem with my driver's side power window. it'll go down fine. but usually won't roll back up. i can hold the button up forever and it won't. luckily for me, it's been stuck down while raining at night, or on cold days.

i'm thinking the motor is dead. would a motor replacement cure all of this, or is there something more simple i've overlooked?

yea my 91 is having trouble with the passenger side window and the rear passenger window. Could it be just the main switch in the drivers door? I really hope it's just that.

I just replaced the master switch on mine. Mine would go down just fine, then you would have to pray to Jesus you could get it back up. Sound really similar to your problem, I replaced the switch with one from a ES250 90 I believe, I had to use the good base/connector from the ES with my Black switch cover and woodgrain. Works like a CHAMP, cost $20 at the local salvage yard, and 15 mins of time

yea, almost all old toyotas ive had/worked on have had at least ONE window switch die.

sometimes u can fix it by cleaning the contacts but a lot of switches arent serviceable.

yep, the same thing happened to my '92. I swapped the master control switch from my '91 and everything worked fine after.

THis happened to me on my 91.

BUt it wasn't the switch but rather the window motor.. I originally thought it was a window regulator..I assumed it was the wire kind with the pulleys adn such, but no case.. I took apart and this regulator is really simple, using a few springs and one main arm..
I could roll down, it was slow, but wouldn't go up.. It would make a popping sound about every 3 inches or so...

It was the motor... NEw one was $330 from Dealer.. Just bought one on ebay from a junkyard for $40 and put it in, worked fine.. So in my case something inside the motor broke, I would guess.. So if you window is going down smooth and no clicking or anything, probably the switch, if you hear any abnormal noise, get a motor!
