Default Junkyard near me has first gen with Air Susp...

I called a junk yard near me because I want to buy a new driver's seat, and one near me just got in a new first gen.. I think it's a 92.

Anways the guy on the phone said it had air suspension! That got me thinking!

Do you think it would be worth it to buy the air suspension from that car and convert mine? I would still probably have to get the air struts remanufactured, but how much would that cost? I didn't get a price from him yet on how much the whole setup would cost, and I haven't had a chance to go see the car, but I will go tomorrow morning to check it out.

Also, the seats they have are heated. How do the heated seats on the first gen hold up? I don't think too many people have it as an option..

It would be worth it if you were really into OEM stuff. I know I'd love to have my car on factory air susp, but what keeps me from doing a transfer is the amount of LS400s I see with a saggy rear end.

if the pricing isn't bad, i'd say go for it.
shewt, i'd hop on an OEM air setup like that for myself if it was complete.

as for heated seats, i have OEM heated seats in my LS. obviously they're now 18 years or so old, so they aren't hot in seconds and take a little bit to get warmed up, but they do feel nice. and if the ones you found are in nice shape, even better!

yeah, if you end up not wanting that air setup let me know im looking for one. my car originally came with air but somewhere along the line was converted to shock/spring so i have everything except the struts. i have a 92 with heated seats and theyre alright, i can hardly tell theyre on sometimes...

why not just buy remanufactured air struts and use aftermarket compressors/valves?

My 93 LS has heated seats and they still work beautifully even though the leather may be starting to get thin because of their age. Warm and comfortable all the time. Like SK and Pure said, get reman and aftermarket compressors/valves if you want to go air, otherwise UAS it.

my 90 ls has both the heated seats and air suspension stock. both are still holding up flawlessly. 235,000 miles and still going strong! Ride is still very smooth, even with polyurethane bushings in the front.

I say save your cash and stop looking for ways to waste your money on a 1994 LS400...but that's just me.

How is it a waste? I've got 210K on it and I plan to drive it till I hit 300K. Buying a new car right now wouldn't be economical for me, and I've got 4 years atleast till I hit 300...

I think you misunderstood me; I was not talking about selling your car. What I meant was that it is a waste to swap out a good, working coil suspension for a junkyard air suspension. Especially considering that you might have to have the air struts remanufactured. It's not worth the cost or the hassle.
