Exclamation Clicking noise at the shifter...getting louder

Hello Guys,

When I step on the brake pedal when the car is in "PARK" there is a clicking sound at the shifter. That is normal, I believe, but recently the clicking sound has been louder. My mechanical suggested a "shift lock solenoid", but I'm not having any luck locating such part. Any help will be greatly appreciated. BTW, I'm in the process of changing my master cylinder AND power booster!!! Is "clicking getting louder" problem the result of the faulty master cylinder and/or power booster? Many thanks.

mine is clicking as well when I step on break, shift lock control switch fails intermittently, when it fails i have to use the shift lock override button

i think the clicking sound is produced when the control switch malfunction causing the solenoid to work continuously.

find no cure so far, still bear with it

Hi,

Thanks for your reply. So the actual part is called "switch lock"? Can that be replaced?

...but the clicking sound has always been there. I think that is normal, but recently the sound has been much louder. So say in the morning when I get in the car. I step on the brake, it makes a click at the shifter. That's normal right? It is just that click is louder now.

It is supposed to click but if it gets real loud or sticks it needs cleaning and lubing.

sk,

...so I'm assuming that part is located at the shifter?
