1994 LS400 trunk release
I have a 1994 Lexus LS400, and the trunk release does not work, I know about the key, and with it unlocked and out it still does not work, I can here a click (from under the hood, possibly a relay) when I pull on it, but wont open, even with someone pulling up on it. I would sure appreciate some imput.
Thank you, and Merry Christmas.

I had the same problem with my 93 LS several years ago. The problem turned out to be a broken wire in the trunk hinge wiring harness. This particular problem occurs in many of the 90-94 LS models and has been discussed numerous times.
The odd thing is that the broken wire usually causes other problems, too. These usually involve strange blinking lights in the dash, unusual transmission shift patterns, and an array of other problems.
This would be the first thing I would check.

If you can hear a click then the relay is most probably working .
A lot of the time the little release pin is not lubed at all and seeing as it's nylon it can wear a little step in it which hinders the release , put some lube on it and at the same time do a visual of the pin itself .
It will help more if some one gently push's on it rather than pulling it , gentle pressure with one fingure will do the trick .

Thank you both, I will check both the the pin, and the wire. It does shift hard, and when I put it in gear it jerks. I do appreciate your imput.
Thank you, I will check and update you as soon as I get a chance.

CUMan...you are the MAN,
I looked in the trunk, removed all the tape, and low and behold...broken wire, I soldered it back together, re-enforced the shielding and bang "the trunk opens". I am so HAPPY, it's the little things in life.
Thank you, and have a great NEW YEAR. I appreciate all of your help, the pin also needed some lube, you guy's ROCK
Take care.
