New Ls 400 Owner
Hey CL members. I just sold my SC3 and got a '90 LS 400. Is there anything I need to know about this car. Like maintenance or parts issues to watch for. Thanks for any help.

Hmm, welcome to the club. here is a short list of things you want to start with:
Tune up
Power steering pump (known leak problem)
power steering rack (comon to replace due to mileage and age)
ball joints (Ls is a very heavy car,, will eat ball joints alive)
bushings (always good to freshen these items up)
hood struts(common for them not to work, especially on the older models)
Timing Belt and Water Pump (good idea to change both at same time,, you're right there)
spark plug wires
plugs
alternator(fix power steering pump first, drips into alt.)
Upper control arms (fronts) very expensive,, replace as necessary
This should get you started with some of the common problems. Using the search and advanced search features here will help you to address alot of what I just brought up.
Overall the LS is a good, rock solid car. Older they get, the more attention they will want. If you keep up with maintenance, hardly any problems
