Got my FSTB today..Doesn't fit?
I bought a 95-98 Toyota Supra FSTB from carparts.com and tried to install it today. Unfortunately, the bar did not clear the top of the engine. I was test fitting it on top of the factory strut bolts so it was approximately 3/4" higher than the factory surface. Do I need to raise it more? If I do, the bar will be held by the very tips of the strut bolts and I'm afraid that they can break off easily. Someone please help. Am I doing something wrong?

Send it back. It's not made for your car. Plain and simple.
Win Racing and C's both make bars that will fit...PM Steve Ganz (SUPRATRD) or get ahold of him via phone...(800) 90-TOYOTA, he can get you the parts..

The only bad thing about using washers is that if you use "regular" circular washers (the kind you buy at hardware stores), it puts additional stress on the strut tower bolts. I have broken strut tower bolts by accidentally overtorqueing which is why I don't recommend the washer method...those bolts aren't that strong...
Now if your LS has the brackets (like on the GS), adding a couple of those should be ok because the bracket distributes the pressure better...but again, you'll have less thread.ing..I would recommend a couple drops of Loctite BLUE (NOT RED!) on there while you're install it if you're going to keep it and use the brackets...
But I really recommend getting the RIGHT part.
