Default Driver's School question about my 1999 LS trans.

Gentlemen,
Just back from the Dealer, and they want me to to fix a broken or cracked transmission bracket. They say there is only one of these, and did not give the impression that is is serious. I do not notice anything while driving. Is this something I need to fix?? Or another grab in my wallet?? Will it affect the trans. in anyway? What would you do? $217.00 to fix.

Thank you,
David

I assume they were referring to the transmission mount. Eventually it will deteriorate to the point where you will feel harsh vibrations from the driveline, and possibly even clunking when you go on and off the throttle. Since you don't notice anything now, you can probably wait on the repair, but it will eventually need addressing.

should be fixed but NOT for $200

the mount itself is only $45 TOPS and it is NOT 3 hours worth of labor.

It's more than $45 at 9/10 shops...a good bit more in fact.
