I am now switching to the new 15000 mile mobil one oil and change it every 15,000 miles. By the way BMW Mercedes and such cars now change oil and the all use mobil one at 15,000 miles as a standard change. The only reason some people still change oil at 3000 miles it is the way they started when they first bought the car. Todays dino oil can go 7500 miles and synthetic can go 15,000 miles no problems. I also use the mobil one synthetic TRANSMISSION FLUID IN MY TRANS AND IT WORKS GREAT I ALSO USE THE SYNTHETIC TRANSMISSION FLUID IN MY POWER STEERING CHANING IT EVERY 30,000 MILES AND I CHANGE THE TRANSMISSION OIL AT AROUND 30-40,000 MILES. BMW Cadilac Mercedes and such cars go 100,000 miles on mobil one transmission fluid I also use the mobil one 75-90 in my cars rear end drive on the old lexus the new lexus needs special fluid for limited slip rear ends I understand that a company called Redline makes a 75-90 weight gl5 for limited rear end cars it is also synthetic gear oil. For the later lexus that require type 4 trans fluid I am using Ams oil synthetic fluid in a 2006 camary which also uses the same trans fluid as the late model lexus.
BUT, while your saying that, you need to specify your driving style.
I know for a FACT my oil is toast after 3-4,000 km.
you can see it in the oil temp and pressure gauges, its not consistent since its been broken down so much through heat.

its been proven by independant research agencies (published in car and river, etc etc before) That synthetic motor oil only has an effect from the time the motor is built. otherwise, it acts as a regular motor oil.

Another benefit for synthetic: dino oil breaks down with TIME, not just mileage (added particulates)...therefore those who put low mileage on their LS can really stand to benefit from synthetic.

However, for normal useage at 3k change intervals, no need for synthetic.

How often do I need to change the oil using synthetic?

Thanks,

You can just change over to mobil one extended 5w-30 it is good for 15,000 miles or one year there are also other good synthetic oils on the market but mobil one is the simplest to get. the newest one from mobil is the new 15,000 miles called extended it will help on cold weather starts and hot weather running keeping the engine cooler in the hot summer days and I have heard of some people getting 1-3 miles better gas mileage it will also make the engine last a lot longer that is why Mercedes BMW Corvette Porche and all high expensive cars now all come with MOBIL ONE SYNTHETIC OIL FACTOR FILLED. It helps keep the engine clean and when you try and pass smog test it should help you pass with better results.

Ive changed to mobil 1 synthetic and I don't think there's much change in my city driving but in highway, its overall pretty good compared to what the 1993 SC400 is rated at. On strictly highway miles, I will get 24.8mpg, and strictly city would be around 17. So 17-25 is my mpg, which is awesome for a non VVTi engine.

I just returned from 1,000 mile roundtrip. Driving at 75-80 MPH I averaged low 23.5 MPG to high 25.7 MPG for fill ups - I used Shell 93 Octane and I have run Mobil1 SYN since 20,000 miles. The car has just over 200,000 miles now. Can't say scientifically that Mobil1 SYN is better than conventional. If it is not, they have fooled me for years since it is all I use.
