I'll be buying new 225/60/16 tires within the next few months for my 99 LS400 with OEM 16" wheels.

I was wondering if anyone had any opinions or experience with these tires:

Bridgestone Potenza RE750

Dunlop SP Sport 01

Firestone Firehawk Wide Oval

Fuzion ZRi

Sumitomo HTR Z II

Kumho Ecsta KH11

Any other recommendations are welcome. I'd like a good mix of performance and comfort, maybe with a slight performance bias.

I can tell you the fuzion's are garbage. They slip way to easy. I had them on my wrx and switched to some hankook 104's and even though those aren't special they felt much better than the fuzions.

for the money I've had good experiences with Dunlop. Bridgestones are always nice, but it comes with a price.

the sumitomos grip but wear out REALLY fast.

id recco either the kumhos or Yokohama AVID V4S

or some continental contiextremes if they come in that size.

Im running bridgestone potenzas...no complaints.

The car handles like its on rails.

I highly reccomend the Bridgestone Turanzas.. perfect blend of performance and quietness/comfort that the LS deserves. I hate my current Yokohama Avids, but at the price.. tey are pretty good. The Turanzas were twice as much.

I also ran Bridgestone Turanza's on my stockers, and never had any complaints. Agree with Suneet that they do give a smooth quiet ride, but they also gripped like the car was riding on rails as well. No slip grip, good all weather tire, great in the snow, and quiet as a church mouse at Sunday Mass. Only offset is that they are a bit expensive.

I think I'll be going with Bridgestones, but I'm considering the Potenzas RE750($108 each @ tirerack) as well as Turanza LS-Z($141 each). Can anyone compare who has had both of these tires? I've read about how the Turanzas will be more comfort oriented, but if the Potenzas have decent comfort, then I'd probably rather go for more performance, as long as it's not too rough.

The tires I spoke about above were the Turanza LS-Z's. I throughly enjoyed their handling and commfort ability. Unfortunately, have not had any experience with the Potenza's.

I had these tires before I modified my car and was impressed with the performance and longevity I received. Before them I was a Michelin customer and found the Bridgestones to be a cost effective alternative.

in regard to your choice in tire size, the oe size on the 99 LS is 225/60/16. after switching to 255/60/16, your speedometer will show -5.05% of your actual speed.

LOL.. well the RE750 is the Fuzion ZRi compound.

I usually run BFG, Michelin or Bridgestone on my cars. I just bought a set of Fuzion to try out on the LS. I'll have them installed tomorrow or Saturday when the wheels get here.

I teach motor sports for a living. And I can assure you- that MOST tire complaints are not caused by poor tires, but by poor driving skills and/or improper inflation.

All of the reviews I've read about on tire sites said they were very sticky tires, then I come here and everyone says they're garbage.
