Default 95 LS 400 steering rack interchangeable with 95 SC 400

I searched the boards and did not find the answer and am hoping some of you CL veterans may be able to help me answer this question before I buy the part and try it. I have a 95 LS 400 and want to increase the responsiveness of my steering since I have modifed the suspension. Please note my current setup is not worn out and my solenoid screen is clean - I only want to make the car steer quicker.

Do you think a 1995 SC400 steering rack would interchange with my LS400? If so and all else fits then it would make my steering quicker to take advantage of my suspension mods.

Any ideas?

this is interesting, the SC steering is a decent bit quicker than the LS so if it interchanges it would be a relatively cheap mod since most of our steering racks go out at some point anyways

Good point about it being cheaper and of course it would steer quicker which is what i am looking for. The $200 question is will it fit If I can't get an answer on the boards maybe I can get a place to ship me one with a good return policy

Check also with your parts guy and have him cross reference the part #'s. It's not a complex mechanism so long as you have the right couplings, dimensions and mount location, I don't see any issues.

I've been down this road with the Supra TT rack , the gearing in the rack is higher so more feel , much to my disgust the Supra rack mounts differently at one end , the LS has a double "D" rubber type mount while the Supra has a round pole type mount on one end which is less likely to move side to side , I think the Soarer is the same , however you might be able to change the guts over ??

Thanks - I checked with the parts folks and the two units are completely different (mounting brackets, etc.). So at this point, unless the GS 400 will fit I think it is a question of swapping the internals as you say.
