1LS strut bar bushing price check - $147 (?!)

I changed mine out - since the job is pretty involved it made more sense to get a new unit. The proce seems high though - surprised there are not aftermarket units available for cheaper though.

My symptoms were sqeaking as the car travelled up and down. The biggest symptom is I could see cracks. Some say you get a thump in the floor board while going over bumos but I never heard that on my car. Here's a chuckle - my mechanic said to wrap the bushing in plastic (from a milk carton). I said WTF dude I will change it out. I appreciated him trying to save me cash but come on bro.

The strut bar bushing or cushions are about $120 each at Trademotion.
I changed mine out but at around the same time I did shocks, shock mounts, and sway bar bushings. I did this to eliminate the "ha-hee-ha" noise when hitting speed bumps or driveways. I also had a suspension groan when braking when backing up. The original cushions (1990 LS400, 150m) had small cracks in the rubber but otherwise had no obvious failure. Considering the cost of these parts, I would look elsewhere first, i.e. sway bar bushings. My suspension noise has been almost largely eliminated but I can't point to the one thing that did it.

Man isn't that the truth. I had some strange sounds and after I lowered my Bilsteins to the bottom perch all the sounds were gone. I removed steering knuckles, springs, struts and mount and put it back together. My local shop tried to sell me strut mounts. Nobody could tell me where the sound was coming from bro.
