Default Check engine light is on!

After I filled up a tank of gas, after 15 mins driving the check engine light was on...so I checked If the gas cap was loose or not and I checked it again, it is very tight but he engine light still on ....anybody experience this before?

How do you clear this problem, can disconnect the battery terminal help?

Thanks

ur profile said '93

on the 95+ its easier since their OBDII. go down to ur local autozone and borrow their code scanner, itl tell u what the problem is and if its the gas cap seal u can just reset it.

Thank you for you reply...hahha sorry for the confusion 93 is for my MR2
Anyway, where do I scan the error code?
or Can I just disconnect the battery and see if it will reset itself?
or How do we reset it?

Thanks for your expertise

disconnect the neg side of the battery for like 5 mins and see if the CEL comes back on, if it does then go to autozone and borrow that scanner thing. basically sums up what PD said.

Default I doubt that will work

I just picked up a 1995 2 months ago and I have the check engine light on.I wouldn't come on here and say "i have a check engine light on, what do I do"?I will do a search.I did a search on my problem and I am very sure he has the same problem most 1995 LS's have. The problem with their common check engine light is a leaking exhaust at the cat.The usual code is p430 and p 420.Replacing the gasket or sealing it with exhasut cement will work.My 90 also has a common check engine and those are O2 sensors.Run the codes and do a search and you will find all the answers.

check engine light on the 2LS can mean a ****load of different things. i definitely wouldnt limit myself to 1 or 2 possible error codes without actually scanning.

to the OP, if u dont know how to use a codescanner, most of the time the ppl at autozone can show u how, the port u need is near the e-brake handle under the steering wheel.
