Default Mines Delight !!

I visited ny brother in New Zealand last week and fitted a set of D2 coil-overs into his 93 LS400 , he had recently scored a mines ECU , however much to his disgust it couldn't be fiited as the 93 ECU was different to the earlier units .
Nice chap that he is he gave it to me !!
It will go nicely in my 90 Celsior .
25 Kw/40 HP here I come .
Will be fitting it tomorrow as it's a public holiday , will let you know how great it is !!

I believe the plug on the harness is different on the 90-92 vs 93-94

You can't make 40hp on a stock 1st gen LS400 with just an ECU, that's absurd.

You could probably get around 25-30 ish. Maybe absurd, but would be hella cool

Well what can I say ...it's awesome PLUS !!
The car is just stronger everywhere .
From nought to 40 K's it's a bit quicker and from then on it just shoots away , it accelerates so much quicker , way crisper .
And that's just pulling away normally , if you get up it from a standstill it really rockets away , I have no doubt that at maximum HP [ at what around 5600 RPM not sure where it makes max HP ] that I've got 40 HP more .
Before I fitted it I was testing how quicky it reved up from idle to about 5000 RPM , after fitting the Mines unit it just reved up so much quicker .
It's not so much the increase in HP but the crispness of it , there is no doubt the air/fuel ratio is spot on and the timing is advanced .
I run sticky 275/40/18's on the back and I can now light them up from a standstill WITH the traction control on , something I couldn't do before no matter how hard I tried !!
I pulled away from an intersection turning right and gave it a squirt to get through a gap in the stream of traffic and it just lit up , this was 2 days after I had fitted it and the first real drive for me other than a test around the block , I held it at about 3500 RPM and went sideways through the turn with a bit of opposite lock on !!
Was totally surprised .
I have held it in second gear and have seen 7250 on the tacho so it is correct that it gives another 1000 RPM on the rev limiter , the auto also changes differently , not only how it changes but where it changes , the shifts happen quicker without being harsh or jerky , it kicks down quicker and this is even with my preloaded cable .
So far it's about 50 K's better per tankful [ 3 tanks through so far ] and I expect this to improve again once I get my injestors re'coned and new oxy sensors .
I'm very very pleased with it .
Oh I have had two other LS owners in it as well and they are also amazed !!

so the car:

makes 40hp more
revs faster
can do a burnout in the dry with TRAC on
revs to 7250 without a care
and gets 31 miles extra per tank

I wonder how well these ECU tweaks would work on the crummy 91 octane fuel we get here in California.

Rich, Any chance you can get your LS up on the dyno/rollers and check the A/F ratio???

I wouldn't call it "spot on" unless I 100% knew what it was.

just curious!

i've never trusted anyones *** dyno to be honest with you, not even my own.

its just a "too good to be true" kinda situation when an aftermarket ecu improves absolutely everything about the car and has no drawbacks. if it were this easy why didnt lexus do all of this from the factory? more power and better fuel economy... cant lose there.

i guarantee they have more money, better engineers, etc, than mines...

just doesnt seem to make sense when you think about it.

no offense or anything.

it does to a degree.

its commonly accepted that big manufacturers massively DETUNE their engines before putting them into the mass market, in order to ensure that they DONT go wrong at all. so its relatively easy if u replace the OEM ecu to see how getting a goodly amount of HP freed up by altering timing and A/F so it isnt that conservative.
