CD-Rs don't work on mine, and i've tried about 6 brands and 3 colors. Good luck, some work better than others.
What year is your car? If you have a 90, it might explain it. Some older CD-ROM readers have a hard time reading CD-Rs. It's based on older firmware and optical readers...

I have a 99...burned about 10 coasters trying to get one that worked. I have the 6 disc OEM lexus changer. All CDs burned in Nero and finalized (!?!?). Some older threads suggest that darker color CDs work because the laser is seeing thru (in a way) a silver or gold disc. The one dark blue CD I tried sort of worked, but was horribly skipping and hissing. So I'm MP3 player thru tapedeck now.

Hmm...it could be always restricted to your specific unit (maybe it has problems) does it read normal non-burnt disks fine? I would check those disks in someone else's LS400 just to be sure...
...but sounds like everyone here does not have any real problems.

It does read non-burnt discs fine, although they do have to be in pretty good shape...scratched up discs play pretty bad. I think it's just very sensitive. It may have issues, but I gave up because of the limitations of CD audio storage.

Yeah, nuff said, maybe you should try PD's hardwired IPOD installation...
...I got mine hooked up via AUX inputs in my aftermarket headunit, and been loving it ever since...
