Exclamation Need advice: What year LS 400 to buy?

My budget is 7-8K with most wear items already serviced (t-belt, suspension etc), mileage around 100-150kmiles.
Should i save up and get the newest LS possible in my price range? (1996-1997, ~100kmiles) or Should i just get a 1994-1995 with slightly higher miles and most things already serviced/replaced? I am planning to keep the car for 3-4 years.

93-94's are very good but 95-97 are better. My advice is get any year you can afford as long as its been loved. A maintained LS is better than newer cars. I say a maintained 95 is your best bet. Thankfully many LS owners are well off and spare no expense on their cars. there are many pristine cars to be found.
good luck man!

I see your in NJ, most of the good deals are close to you. Just watch out for rust (not a problem for most LS400's)

Newer is better but your budget is a killer ............I've done a search and the normal for a 96-97 LS 400 is somewhere around 12,900 or 13K ........... the 92 and 93's were going for 7 to 9K. ( with over 100K+ Miles) ......... I know where to get a 97 LS400 with 111,506 miles and is Black and in excellent condition ...........

I dont know here in NYC 10K would get you a REAL nice 95+.

To put it in perspective I paid $1500 for mines but that was a rare deal.

See, there are good deals all the time. Now i didn't research this car's carfax but just look out on ebay for no reserve. Somtimes when cars end for much lower than you might expect. But they can also end up much higher. Ebay is weird like that. out of the 3 lexus cars my fam has purchased in the past 8 mos 2 of them we snatched up from dead beat buyer. At a discount too. We're about to close on another LS from a dead beat bidder at a hefty discount but i don't wanna jinx. Will post pics if the deal goes through. wish me luck.

wow, that is a good price. on the other hand there may be easily 2-3K of work that needs to be put in the car, like t-belt, suspension, a/c.. you never know
i prefer to buy from original owner unless the deal is really good.

i was just givin an example. Of course when paying that kind of money you're gonna speak to the seller to get a better idea of the car... and the mandatory carfax...

Since we paid for so little for our cars... we just took the risk... and it turned out awesome. I guess i have a good eye and good luck... I don't recommend that!

Thats a sweet ride except for 2 things. Ugly blue tinted headlight bulbs and that awful wood trim kit. I don't get people sometimes.

Everything else looks top notch. Looks good in white monotone with the LS430 rims.
