Boo-boo fixed.
My lunchtime surprise a month back:

Can you UCF20 owners spot the subtle mod?
I was going to remove the center rib but in discussion with my contact at the body shop, we concluded the vinyl/rubber of the OEM piece wasn't rigid enough. The lower portion would likely flex if not sag. So
to that. Also would have liked to remove the license plate cavity but again, vinyl isn't conductive to mods like that. If it were FRP, I could have had fun. Oh well.
It's been 2 weeks and tomorrow I'll be at Aerotect to have a clear bra put on the bumper.

You painted the support ribs black? Anyway, did you replace the entire bumper cover or did they do plastic repair work on it? Either way it looks good, but I too may have to buy a new bumper cover or get my flaws repaired eventually, so I was just wondering which route you took.

They cut the vertical ribs except the center out. The first suggestion to save me some $$ was to paint them. I just had to add a different touch and it wasn't that costly. By the time the 95-97 bumper arrived, I had other thoughts but it was too late since the part was a done deal. 
The bumper that was ordered was OEM from Toyota. I was firm on that since many re-manufactured pieces I've seen are so-so. Wavy or when painted, the past repaired damage still can be seen. The body shop had no problem in getting this approved, they didn't have to contact me about it so I figured it was fine. I inspected it when it arrived to verify also.
The new parts don't spec a metal license plate backing for a machine screw. The screw screws threads into the bumper itself. Even the updated parts catalog for the bumper break-down has this original piece omitted. I wanted to put a tamper proof screw but it doesn't have a rigid backing piece anymore...
