Default LS headrest question

Does anyone know what other Lexus model or year headrest fit in the 98-00 LS400? Also, this for for one with the power headrest if that matters at all. I'm going to be installing headrest monitors soon and I'd either like a spare set to work on and keep my original, or just have a spare set laying around when I go back to stock. Thanks.

Have you looked into the headrest with monitors already built in? Ebay has them for $250 for 9" screens. Fitment is universale though of course they are not powered headrest

iirc the LS headrest is powered by a motor inside the seat, the headrests are identical to any other lexus headrest although there is prolly a slight difference in the metal posts

I want to stick with my touch screen Alpine monitors since I have nearly a complete Alpine touch control A/V system.

From just searching and trying to look at other headrests, it appears the headrest posts of most other Toyota/Lexus headrests of similar years will fit. At least in 2004 or around that time the metal posts has a larger diameter so those wont fit. I know my 2004 RX330 is like that, the GX/LX of similar years, and the new GS wont fit because of this.

For the motorized headrest, the posts simply does not have those notches in them. The notches are on the inside, and at least on my 99, the slot for the retaining clip is on the outside, so it shouldn't be a problem. You would just have to cut your own slot for the retaining clip with a dremel cutting wheel. After all this though it is hard to find any LS headrest. There are a couple of LS headrests on ebay, but I kind of wanted a UCF20/21 since that is the closes match in shape. Anyway, thanks for your help.

wait, unless i misunderstand this, the headrests from a 2nd gen GS SHOULD work right? if they do, just buy one of the ready made headrests for that? even if u have to cut the notches out ul be better off $$$ wise and you'l still have ur OEM headrests if u ever need to swap back.

Yes, I think the GS headrest should fit as well. Problem with the aftermarket prefabbed headrests is that I already have my 2 Alpine M770 touch screen monitors that came out of my RX330. I want to be able to continue to use the touch screen to control the A/V system. That is the cool part of the M770s is that you can route and control sources to each monitor all by the touch screen since I'm also using the Alpine VPE-S431 A/V Expansion switcher box.

I'm pretty sure I tried the headrest from my LS on the headrest from my GS and it didn't work for some reason... maybe the inverse (no slots for it to lock).

I was looking for 2GS headrest though and the inverse would work for you

This won't help with the posts, but may if you want to compare headrest size or fittment for monitors.

If I hadn't sold my LS400 a couple of weekends ago I could go try for you!
