Default 2LS caliper clearance issues on 1LS with various OEM wheels.

"it wont fit"
"it will fit"

those are relatively crappy answers when checking into which OEM wheels will clear upgraded OEM brakes on a 1LS...

has anyone actually tried thin spacers in some of these cases before selling their wheels and buying something else? i would do it myself however i have stock brakes and stock 15" sawblades for now..

the LS and TT brakes are physically massive, you actually need more clearance for a TT setup than you do for brembo or rotora. because of this, the spacers you would need are MASSIVE, ie 20-30mm in order to clear with non-bbk OEM wheels (at least for the 1ls wheels).

oem wheels that will clear:
2LS
Supra TT mkiv
LS430
new GS (18)
new IS (18)
RX (most likely with thin spacers, not confirmed)

You say upgraded OEM brakes...then stock...??

Are you planning on installing a TT Supra caliper? If so, PD is correct. The floating calipers in stock form will not pose a clearance problem for most wheels.
You want to avoid having to use spacers...some don't have issues but there are enough threads on vibrations related to having spacers.

If this is the TT 4 piston calipers, you will want to buy high disk wheels with the proper offset. In other words, they clear a big brake kit.

upgraded OEM ... is still OEM

right *NOW* i have stock 1LS brakes, two rotors in need of replacement and one sticky caliper. I want to upgrade to the huge calipers and bigger rotors however I wanted to know which wheels might just barely not fit, I am not scared of a 6mm spacer when you can always get longer studs.

now knowing that the only spacers that would work are those aluminum adapters, i know its not really viable.

Shoot, thanks for the thread, I almost bought a set of TT calipers but now i'm not sure they will fit my GS400 17" wheels.

I read somewhere here; "Take a ruler to it and see how many inches the rotor is from around the center of the wheels. it has to measure at least 2 3/4 inches. If its shorter than that, it wont fit."

So that means measure the distance from the outside wall of the rotor to the inside of wall of the wheel? Does anyone know how I could measure wether or not my wheels will fit a TT set up?

If i cant go with the TT set up, what would be my best option that would fit?

Thanks guys.

they won't fit your GS wheels.

06+ GS 18" wheels, 95-00 LS400, 01-07 LS430, 86-98 Supra Turbo (mk3 or mk4) will fit. 2IS wheels MIGHT fit i can't recall. they should.

Thanks PD, looks like i'll be shopping for a new set of wheels here pretty soon.

Out of curiosity, are there any 4 piston or really nice 2 piston's that might clear these wheels? I measured 2 inches between the rotor and the wheel?

PD ... RX wheels do not fit without a spacer .

Almost every wheel not made with a large X factor for larger brakes need a minimum 10mm spacer , if not 15mm to be safe from bumps.

BTW i did post this before .

mk3 turbo wheel will not fit as turbo and non turbo has the same wheels 16 by 7.5. Only mark IV turbo wheels are 17 by 8 and 9.5 and the non turbo are 16 by 8 and 9.5 .

mk3 wheels, turbo and nonturbo have been confirmed to fit by a previous member, search for it.
