I've got a newb question. I figured this would be the best place for it: what is the max wheel/tire combo you can fit on a 96 without rolling and pulling the fenders? I just got mine a couple weeks ago and the body on it is so nice that I would be heart broken to hurt the paint.

You won't nessasarly hurt the paint by rolling the fenders. You can even do a mild pull and not hurt the paint as long as you know what your doing and have a heat gun.

If you ask around town, you can find someone that'll do it for you for a small fee.

the key is to heat the paint surface enough to where it's hot enough to barely touch with your hand. then roll. keep applying heat after two or three passes. keep the surface hot and the paint will not crack.

btw, i suggest a trim of the rear fenders and a roll of the front fenders. the hardest part is the front where the tabs tend to dimple. be patient and careful!

Just cut the tabs off or un bolt em if you can. Then roll.

'91 LS400 on stock IS300 wheels and stock suspension. Not a bad change from the oem wheels if I do say so myself.

can anyone shine some light on why youve gone with your particular wheel diameters on first gens???
im the worst about making decisions when ordering wheels and 18s always usually look so small!
19s really in my opinion seem perfect and occasionally 20s look too big...
are there any big clearance issues or modding to be done to slam down on 18s
so people just get 19/20s because its easier to tuck?
if any 18" guys could maybe chime in why they didnt opt out for bigger wheels that would really be useful!
its obviously cheaper to get good width/offset 18s, as well as tires
but it just seems like youd have to be on the ground to even pull it off (and maybe thats the point =|)

18s and 20s are significantly cheaper to get tires for than 19s.

18s/19s fit 1st gens better

19s/20s fir 2nd gens better
^due to difference in chassis sizes, aesthetically.
