These cars look great. I keep looking in here and it is making me want to work on my car even more. I look forward to the 19" Volks or TOMS racing rims for the car. Currently the car is sitting on 17 / 8.8 Offset 45 on Enkei GTC-01's.

Pooter those pics are nice and all but you need to post wheel specs with them in this thread or they'll be moved to the recent pics thread.

I think a 225/35 will be perfectly fine for you this will give you some decent stretch, how low are you trying to go? If you won't be crazy low you can probably pull off wider tires but if you plan to tuck some tire a 225/35 or 215/35 may work, I run a 225/40/18 on a 9.5 +20 my car and wish i ran a 215/40 instead

I am texting my friend with style95's right now and hes running a staggered set of 225/40 R and 225/35 F, this is on a 350z though... slammed, kind of

Those are cake sizes to make fit. Should fit with just a roll and a mild stretch. 10' = 235 series for mild or 225 for more

9+ 205/215/225 depending on brand of tire.

Not all tires are the same width too. Example Nankags are about right on with size. Equal to falkens in width. Achilles , winrun, mayrun all run fat and don't stretch more than once. meaning you WILL NOT be able to flip them to run the outside of the tire after the inside has worn due to camber.

I just bought my 1998 LS400 a week or so ago and love it so far.

I'd like to replace the stock 16" rims with some 17" or 18" rims with low profile tires. I talked to the parts guy at Lexus of Tulsa and he said changing to a larger rim would make the ride incredibly bumpy.

I was wondering if I could get some feedback as to the smoothness of the ride (with larger rims) compared to the stock rims & wheels?

I'd really love to put some 5 point star rims on my car--17 or 18 inch would work.

The parts guy gave me the specifications on my stock rim:

5 lug bolt pattern: 114.5mm distance from the center point of one lug to the one across.
ET 38mm Offset -- whatever the ET means.

I have spring/gas shock/strut suspension, not air, btw.

Any help would be greatly appreciated thanks!

Hi jennifer, welcome to CL. Yes adding larger wheels and tires will definitely make your car ride "sportier". If you decide to go further and modify the suspension to remove the wheel gap than possibly it may ride harsher depending on alot of factors. An 18" rim is the minimum rim size id recommend for an upgrade. Tire sizing will also dictate your ride quality. I say decide how you want your car to look like first, than find out if your willing to deal with the comprimises needed for your car to look a certain way.
