if everytying goes according to plan, i'll be running these soon :

18x9 +24, 18x10 +24 225 40 18 up front , 255 35 18 in rear.

I think he means he hopes you clear the brake calipers (inner clearance, not outer).
no, i meant flushness and rubbing.

1st gen cars dont have to worry about brake calipers

it will definitely clear fender, but probably not clear bbk due to design. so if you have ucf20, beware
