Default guess i will be frquenting the ls forum now :)

I own a 2nd gen gs300 but i guess i will also be frquenting here now .
I picked this up yesterday ;92 ls400 with 130 k miles for $1870 yesterday(i think it was a steal). Car was meticulously maintained at the lexus dealer and drives like new.body is a 9.8 out of 10 with no dings except for a minor scratch on the back bumper.
Only things wrong were:
minor wear only on driver seat,
driver side speaker has no sound coming out (but tweeter works). amp? speaker wire ? what?
and a/c lcd lights up but is blank. any idea what is wrong or do i have to change it? what?
also brakes are nice, tight and firm but i can feel a little shake in the driver side wheel when i step on it. (its perfect while driving).warped rotor? wheel balance? what?
also came with one key (black with button on side). is that a master key?
here are some pics taken with my phone.

I used search to find some answers to the few problems but no luck.
so if you ls400 gurus could give me some info on the above problems i mentioned, that would be great.
BTW, am gonna have to now decide which lexus i would support as the best.
the gs300 or the ls400. we'll see

Congrats on the purchase, and welcome to this side of the forum!

In regards to some of your questions.

Speaker: most probably, the speaker is blown. It could also be the crossover, but the speaker is usually the first to go. Best way to tell: use the tutorials from the site mentioned above to remove your door panels, and pull the speaker out. See if you can get a cheapie 4" speaker to stick in there and if that doesn't solve the problem, try the cross over. See if you can get passive crossovers from another speaker set (you could just buy something from BestBuy and return it after diagnosing your problem and carefully taking care of the speakers you buy).. If that doesn't solve the problem, then its your amp. Then come back to this board to see how other people have wired their aftermarket stereos with new amps and new HU's.

Key: The black key with the button on the side is a master key. That remote should work to unlock/lock your car. If it doesn't, make sure the key switch is on which is underneath the steering wheel and to the left. If that is on and it still doesn't work, you need to replace the battery in the key.

Brake Vibration: Most probably you have a warped rotor. If the tire balance was off you woud feel vibration during driving w/o braking. Easiest fix is to jack the car up, take the rotor off, and take it to Kragen or some auto store to machine it. Doesn't cost much. For tutorials on taking the rotor off and pretty much all brake things, check the above site again.

LCD Lights: This is a very common problem. You will need to buy a new LCD screen, which should cost about $80. You then have to solder it yourself. Search for a thread called "LCD Screens on Ebay", its a thread I started . Or search for my name and LCD. You should find it. Also the soldering tutorial is also available on LexLS's site.

Hope you enjoy the car!

There is also a seller on eBay selling remanufactured heater control units. I bought one from him and am quite pleased. He is an electrical engineer and rebuilds them himself. He replaces the lcd and all the light bulbs too. They cost more but if you're not into soldering then it's worth it. Here's a link to his auction. http://cgi.ebay.ca/Lexus-LS400-Clima...QQcmdZViewItem

Hope this helps
