Default '90 LS400 engine light goes in and out with code 52

So a little while ago my check engine light came on with code 52, the knock sensor. There are some odd things about it though. It comes on after the car is warm usually, and resets if the engine is shut off for for any amount of time and takes anywhere from 30 seconds of driving to 15 minutes to turn back on again. I poured a bottle of fuel injector cleaner in it but that hasn't seemed to help much other than delaying the light for my morning drive.

Have any of you had this problem? I am thinking that new spark plugs, wires, and caps should help this problem and if nothing else I can replace the knock sensor. What bothers me about this is how the light comes on with little rhyme or reason. The only trend there is is what my dad noticed: it tends to go on just and you push on the gas. Maybe the wiring? Maybe I got too much water in there when I washed the engine? Anyone got an idea?

no, but I have the exact same problem. when i scanned the computer that's the only code I got. I also know that this car's electronics were messed with horribly (for two tv's ) but I don't think it has anything to do with the engine code. The car also has a tick comming from the valves-could that have anything to do with it? I'm gonna try to run more injector cleaner through it because I know it's been sitting for quite a while. So, anybody got any ideas?

Lucky you bumped the thread. My dad actually helped me fix it. We actually just tuned it up, cleaned the inside of the intake manifold, reseated the drivers side knock sensor (no.1), and replaced a piece of the EGR assembly. It seems like a lot, but actually is pretty easy.

Does it throw code 72 at you periodically too?

Hey, no I haven't gotten around to re-seating the knock sensor or diagnosing the problem much further, but I'll probably due exactly what you did w/ the tune-up and re-seat and hopefully that'll be the fix. I havent seen code 72 but I have gotten periodic O2 sensor codes.
