My front right speaker has started to crackle and pop very loudly, but only when playing a CD from the changer. It gets louder with increasing volume and there is no crackling when the volume is at the lowest setting or with radio or cassette. Is my changer malfunctioning and is there a fix short of replacing it?

So no thoughts on the problem? It's getting really annoying. Any fixes?

Maybe clean the laser in the changer? Speakers/speaker wiring/amplifier should all be okay since the radio is fine.
