someone pulled the little tongue thingies up, and forced it shut. You just have to try to push them down with a screw driver, and it will come out.

I am having this problem today and was wondering how you got it fixed? My cupholder lid will not stay shut.

I had the same problem as you all,

What did I do you ask?

I went and bought some silicone lubricant spray and just sprayed all the moving parts that I could see. I even sprayed a lil in through the cracks on the sides, opened and closed the sucker a few times and it works like a charm now.

I even used the silicone spray on the door jams, windows/window rails, cup holders… anything that has moving parts and which is prone to becoming stuck or squeaks, you can use this spray on and it is virtually safe to use on almost all products.

Edit: if it won’t stay shut, you might have broken something in there. There is usually a retention spring/clip that holds such mechanisms in place once you push it in, Id say try the silicone but I doubt that would cure the problem.. You most probably have something broken in there.
