Minor throbbing at ~42 mph
I have a great 96 LS400 (not one single problem ever!) with 165K miles. I put on new Michelins a few months back, and now I notice a minor throbbing that appears to be transmission-related:
If I change up to 3rd it goes away.
I cannot hear anything at the same engine speed in 3rd.
I think it may have been present before the tire change but not so bad.
It doesn't seem to be getting any worse over time, its been like this for 6 months (and a few K miles).
Thanks for any hints. I have changed the transmission fluid a couple of times and I did the filter once.

I've got a '98 LS400 and think I have a similar problem. I'm also afraid it is transmission related--just a little shutter like a cupped out tire. It's worse when it is cold (below 40 degrees). When the car warms up it smooths out and when the temp is above 50 or so I don't notice it.
Is your problem "temp related"?
I've done the tranny fluid change, filter, an added some Lucas.
Any other suggestions by anyone?
