LS 400 with 6 speed
Hey Gang,
Anyone in the US or Japan try to put on a Supra Tranny in a LS 400? Will it bolt right on or major modifications wil required? It would be fun to have a 6 speed in a cruiser..... any info on it will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

Search Function Inc.
I know that some dood did that to his SC4 that has the same engine as the LS. I am planning on this upgrade also since LS4 tranny is pretty POS as fas as performance goes.
I would also appreciate some info on that.

They did it from the factory on some SC's
There are a few SC400's that made it over here with the 6 speed. Can't remember how many made it over, but a friend of mine told me about it a few years back...I told him he didn't know what he was talking about...until I saw one. I was walking by a black SC400 one night in Dallas and I glanced inside and noticed it wasn't an automatic. I am guessing it was one of the 6 speeds b/c it looked completely factory, and the car was visually bone stock. I wouldnt be suprised at all if Sewell Lexus was able to pull something off in regards to getting some manual SC's on US soil.

This is what i got from a company in Austrilia.
The Lexus V8 to T56 would be done with an adaptor we make for fitting a turbo 400 to Lexus V8. The cost is $325.00. You would then make a flywheel to suit. We have a clutch plate that would suit at $125.00, a 9 1/2" Hilux pressure plate would be used. We have a T56 with only 22000 km on it for $5000.00.
Its possible. I would not use Supra TT 6 speed. Its expensive and hard to find. T56 is being use by the Viper, Corvette, Trans Am, Z28, 03 Cobra and Cobra R. You can get a brand new T56 for about $1,650.

Re T56
The main concern with the T56 would be fitting it in the transmission tunnel, It is pfysically a much larger box than the original auto or 5/6 speed supras. On the other hand if you have 8000 US dollars to spend you could pick up a six speed sequential hollinger gearbox. Not only are they strong (V8 supercars use them) but they are closer to the auto for size. they come in H shift or the up and down style. they shift quick too. dont know about an adaptor bell housing though.,
