Default 00 Subwoofer is 8"!! Not 10"!

Just tried installing my Rockford Fosgate Punch Stage 1 10" into the stock sub location and it won't fit. I'm thinking the Rockford Fosgate Punch Stage 1 8" will fit?

I read on here that the 98 to 00 LS is 10" thats why I got it and now it don't fit. Can someone tell me a 8" would fit so I can order it tonight? Took out the backseat and all to found out it don't fit

Yeah, I've heard 8" and 10" so I'm not too sure. But from your situation, I would think it is an 8". Thanks for confirming the truth!

the chassis in the 98-00 cars is pretty much the same as the UCF20 (95-97) cars which have 8" subs. Good replacement is a kicker 8" sub,l details of which il post up later.

You can adapt the 10", but you'll have to make wooden ring about 3/4" thick and it should fit. Don't know if the OEM cover will fit, but you can always modify.

Looks way too big for the OEM cover to fit with the 10". I try to put the sub in thinking I'm almost done and it won't fit, its just TOO BIG!!

Gonna order the 8" and return the 10" now. Remember 8" guys!!!!!!!!

remember that hte RF Punch series are NOT free air subs so you wont get very good sound outta them.

use this instead.

Thanks for the link PureDrifter!! Lucky I didn't order the replacement yet, I've heard good things about kicker and I guess I'll give it a try.

The amp I have is the Rockford Fosgate Punch P3001. You think it'll work well with the sub you linked?

What about these? Are they even better than the one you linked? They cost more thou.

it should work, the crutchfield site says that its "suitable for marine use" which usually means that its free-air compatible and since the rest of the speakers in that series (10 and 12" sizes) are labeled as free air.

my only concern is the amp, it puts out 300w @ 2ohm and 150w @ 4 ohm. only problem is you can only wire that in either 2ohm or 8ohm configuration since its a 4ohm Dual Voice Coil sub, so you will have either 75w(too little power) or 300w(over the 200w rms limit).

id talk to kicker and see if 300w wouldnt fry the sub and/or void the warranty or just buy an amp that puts out ~200w @2 ohm (something like this.http://www.crutchfield.com/S-EvVGtYc...20&I=607XA5001)

I got the amp already and just want to find a good sub since the 10" sub I got don't fit. What about the one you linked? Will that one work will with this amp??

I would try and return it and get a 12 inch. Since it is not a free air sub it will sound bad . Atleast with a larger sub it needs a larger spec of volume space so it would sound better. Just get a bracket to hold the speaker to the bottom of the parcel shelf and cut some of the trunk liner to expose it . You will also need to add a bit more dynamat material to seal the trunk better.

OMG that is so much work!! Maybe I'll just get a sealed box and leave it in the trunk and be done with it.

the subs i posted are both free air.

if u really really want to use that amp then give kicker or crutchfield a call and ask them if the punch Comp VR 8" can withstand a 300w RMS amp since its 300w @2 ohms (if wired in parallel). (id call kicker about this, they would know better)

http://www.the12volt.com/caraudio/wo...igurations.asp

for the cheaper kicker (comp series 8") use SPEAKER QTY: 1 VOICE COIL IMPEDANCE: 4 ohm single voice coil
(for this you amp should work fine, even though you are overdriving the sub by ~50w.

for the Comp VR 8" (more expensive kicker) use SPEAKER QTY: 1 VOICE COIL IMPEDANCE: 4 ohm dual voice coils.
(this is where it gets tricky, since u can only wire in 2 or 8 ohm (8ohm=1/4 power of your 300w amp=75w) syou need a amp that puts out ~200-250w @2ohm, and the sub you have puts out 300 @2 ohm, so while it SHOULD work, id call kicker just to make sure it wont blow up and/or void warranty.)
