Lightbulb 93 LS4 Suspension & Performance Mods

Sup All,

I am looking into some Suspension & Performance Mods for a 93 LS400.

As far as the suspensions goes, I am looking for some good springs & struts. I don't want to drop the car because I live in PotHole City, NY. My rear struts recently went and I'd rather get some sportier ones than spring for dealer items. Which companies offer good shocks for this model LS? I would also consider a strut tower crace for the front if the prices are reasonable.

For the performance i am not looking to go overboard, mainly a good intake. What can I look at for intakes and can I fit I cold air intake on this model? Also what other mods can i add to increase performance but wont hit me in the pockets too much?

Right now, the car seems to be a slouch at take-off. i don't know if its because i need a tune-up. I have about 58k on the dash so I am about ready for the 60K tuneup. maybe I can add some btter spark plugs & wires. Is this possible? I think i may need to have the tranny checked out because it seems to be slouchy (is this a word) on the normal mode versus the sport mode.

Anyway, gice me some good ideas and some places to check prices out so that i can consider what I really want to do. TIA!!

HOLLA!!

Welcome to the Club,

Perhaps some others will comment on the suspension.

As far as performance, you mentioned off line performance... NOTHING is better for that than the torque converter from SRT. Part runs about $900 and install (depending on where you take it) runs $300 or more. SRT is promising a cold air system for your car. You can expect 15-20hp with their part. BUT the TC is the best bang for the buck.

The best thing is to get Tociko shocks and Ebiah Pro Kit springs. That is the standard upgrade that I would recomend for less money. If you want to spend a lot of cash you can always go with coilovers, but they would run you over $2000.

Hey Retro,

Where can i get some good pricing on the shocks & springs? Also, do the Eibach or Intrax springs lower the car? I live in NY where the potholes are more rampant than the people so I don't want to lower my car. If they are lowering springs, is there an alternate good spring that I can use which wont drop the car but still provide a good ride?

If you are used to riding in slammed hondas and acuras, then the ride should not be harsh. There is no way the LS will feel like those if lowered.

Best deals on Tociko / Ebiah you can find on www.groupbuycenter.com

Hopefuly they have the sale on them going right now. Eibach/Intrax do lower your car. To be on the safe side pick the Eibach with the lowest lowering ratio.
