Default Any ideas how to retrofit a cabin air filter for 91 LS400

Just wondering if anyone had an idea how I could design a cabin-air-filter for a 91 LS400. I love my LS but I regret the absence of a cabin air filter (which wasn't available until the 93 model year). I'm not sure how different the duct work is between a 91 and a 93 and I'm not sure where I would put a filter. The 3 ideas I came up with are:

1) Swapping some duct parts from a 93 into my 91 to enable the use of the filter. This doesn't seem likely, but does someone out there have any knowledge of the differences?

2) Finding a suitable location in my 91's duct work to insert a homemade filter

or

3) Desiging a filter and placing it in the air intake beneath the cowl.

Appreciate anyone's ideas or experiences with this. Thank you.

This has been discussed many times here before. Use the search feature and you will find a wealth of information. Here is a good place to start looking.....

Thanks trukn. I realize the idea of using an alternative filter has been discussed at length but was really interested to see if anyone (including newer members) has found a way to incorporate a filter in pre-93 models that do not support a filter. I checked my 91 LS beneath the glove box and it does not have a slot for the filter, so was considering my options for how to install one (e.g. beneath the windshield cowl like other cars).

I did a search and found the same question is being asked a lot and no real answer. The SC topics don't help! I'm going to get out my manuals tonight and see if there is a place to install a filter in a pre-93 LS. I doubt the location is there and they just didn't put one in until 93. Some of the threads hint at this.

Thanks for the reply. Yes, I too was hoping to find the slot in my 91 LS but it wasn't designed in yet apparently. I wish I had a parts layout to compare the 91 to the 93 to see if there is a way to do it by swapping in parts from a 93 or 94.
