Default Question about these tail lights for a 1st Gen LS400

Are these tail lights bought all red or are the amber parts painted red?

The amber sections are probably red overlays or spray painted red.

it looks good from the picture. do you think it'll look to ghetto to paint it or overlay?

It all depends on how well it matches the other red sections.

i did that to my tails, they came out great.
i just need to wet sand them so they blend in more.

but other than that i think they look 100 times better than with the amber.

yeah, all my friends told me to do the clear/red tails.
but ive never liked them. so i did this, then now they all love it.

here are some quick pics, all i did was tape off that section
and painted with some transparent red paint and clear coat.

but i need to get off my lazy butt to wet sand them so they look OEM.
you can tell where i painted... so that dosnt look too good

what exactly do u mean by transparent red paint? the "red-out" type of paint or just think coats of red paint?

coats of red paint wont work, you wont be able to see the light afterwords.
go to an automotive store, they will have paint that you use for lights.

this is the original stuff, but its kinda spendy.
but you can get some cheaper stuff at a local auto store thatll work the same.
