1997 to 1998+ front end possible?
Hey fellas,
Does anyone know for sure if you can bolt on a 1998+ LS400 front end on a 1997? I met a few people that "claimed" they did it and it looks pretty nice, but these guys could be pulling my leg at the same time. If anything, I can count on you guys on the forum to provide me with some knowledge...right? . Thanks!

good morning!
so far i know, you can't. it's not bolt on.
the headlights are diff. and side fender.
you need some mods to fit them right.
of course, it's easier than 94- ls400.

I am not sure if anybody has done this in the U.S,but in japan they have kits for this kind of conversions.
But just by looking the hood might be the same and the fenders as well, but the front part with the headlights need to be replaced.
Really cannot tell unless you have a 97 and 98 side by side.
Blitz you comin tommorrow?Sappy did you get my nuumber and Ted's?

Steven my cell number is 626-272-1392.
We will still be in the Irvine area but we might be travelling around.
You can also call Ted (disc108)his cell number is 909-489-1177.
You should get a hold of Ted first he is the one organinzes the meets and he lives in Irvine and is more fimilar with the area than I am.

I believe the 98 front clip (fenders, hood, lights, spoiler and grill) will physically bolt on to a 97 model. Not sure why you would want to do this. I actually like the sharp creased fenders of the 95-97s better. The cost of a front clip plus installation and paint will be pricey. You would probably be better off selling the 97 and buying a 98. This way you have a complete factory assembled car (no strange noises from loose/broken clips, brackets and bolts) and you GET 30 MORE HP, and 30 MORE TQ, and 5 speed tranny and variable cam timing, AND wood/leather steering wheel. Typical price difference between a 97 and 98 has been $10k but worth it if you want the different front end and are thinking of spending thousands on a 97. IMHO

I am pretty sure the dealer would know for sure Kenny just give one of their techs a call, but it does still sound like a huge task to complete because once you get past the body work you will need to get new wires for the HID headlights. Those will runs you about $1000 a piece.

WOW!!!
Hey thanks for researching all this stuff for me Stephen and Eric,
It's much appreciated! I'm just really busy these with school, work and my fraternity. I need to get this thing done soon, because I'm trying to take advantage of my vacation, so my car is laying around anyways. Please keep me informed!
Thanks guys!
Sincerely,
Kenny
