Its been done many times -- Provided you get a decent Freeair (IB) sub, they sound fairly good. Much better than factory. Some people cut out the hole a little and put a 10 in there instead.

If you search, you will find alot on this topic.

Sorry to post on an old thread, but...
Any ideas on how to find the appropriate inputs for a nakamichi amp? I am installing an aftermarket headunit, and I want to take the pre-outs and wire them to the existing amp inputs. I'm kind of resolved to using a multimeter and panning and fading to find which speaker I'm testing. Any other ideas?

here you go. this is what i did with my LS400. since i wanted to use my stock amp w/ an aftermarket deck. but dont forget your sub wont work anymore.

i bought that. i cut off all the RCA plugs, because the harness is useless.

theres a link to the wire diagram. so i use the RCA Plugs and tapped it into the original amp wiring. so it gives you RCA for the preouts. hopefully this is what your getting at and this helps you out
