is that good? All crash tests look horrible to me. Look at that whiplash, with glass slicing thru the ear.

Great find!

That's a mean crash...I wasn't to happy to see the A-pillar deform that much. Nor seeing the left rear passeenger door glass shatter. Looks to me that the passenegr air bag shattered the windshield.

Would have been nice to see a full side view and top.

Yeah, looks pretty bad to me... esp when compared with the LS430. But then again, its a 10 yearold car.

Ouch.. Looks pretty bad! However I have a friend who survived crashing her second gen LS and rolling it down an onramp from one freeway to another. Car rolled 4 or 5 times, landed upside down, and was absolutely crushed.. and somehow she walked away with bruises and a little blood. She did have some whiplash symptoms for a while though.

I found this on the IIHS site in PDF format:

http://www.iihs.org/news/1997.html

The Lexus LS400 received marginal head restraint performance. They rated the LS bumper performance as poor. They did thankfully give it "superior crash" performance. I'm nt about to re-read all the old stuff at this hour though.

It's also important to note that the front door almost popped open, and see how far intothe cabin the front wheel has come. That would definitely cause severe injuries or amputations to the driver's legs.

Is anyone else on this board short like me? The problem with that is my knees sit so high up to the right of the wheel, I'm pretty scared that if I get into a front impact my knees will hit my keys and I'll have a nice hole in my knee-cap. I'm also kind of afraid that I'm sitting to close to the wheel and the airbag will do some serious damage... I've tried driving with the chair pushed back slightly but its just not comfortable.. it makes me feel like I'm constantly stretching my legs. I'm about 5'6" and I'm a runner and have a runner's build (long legs, short torso).
