Doesnt surprise me though, its a really solid car. Ever looked at any sort of damage photos of all Lexus vehicles? Every one holds up like that.

Amazing.

The LS430 is the safest vehicle ever tested by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety. This crash is a real-world testament. Way to go, Lexus.

That is so true, the LS is also the first car to beat 540i in terms of crash safety at IIfHS. It was the best crash worthy car they had since 98.

Anyone notice the passenger airbag was NOT deployed. Must of been turned off. These ususally break the windshield when deploying on most cars, not sure about the LS.

Wonder what it hit? Would hate to see the "other" guy!

I noticed that the windshield was not broken. In a normal car the windshield always breaks in even minor front end collisions. This one look pretty major and the windshield isnt even cracked. Good job Lexus!

No, it was not turned off. If the Lexus does not sense a person sitting the passenger seat or if the person is small/doesn't weigh much, then the airbag(s) will not deploy. You would be surprised how much engineering goes into the little things. Lexus calculated the sheering forces on the bolts, etc. to make sure they would hold fast. They designed the air bags so they wouldn't rupture or break the windows. Even the cumpling of the hood was calculated, lest is slid straight through the windshield and into the passenger compartment, which wouldn't be good news for the occupants. I doubt Lexus let anything past them as far as safety goes.

Actually I dont find there to be any accel lag in the 430.

jbrady, The 400 and 430 have sensors in the front seats, if no one is in them then the bag wont deploy.

Lexus has a catchy little safety sales pitch: "In order to save your body, the Lexus _______ will sacrifice its own."
