I ordered one in January, supposed to be here in April. Millennium Silver, light charcoal interior, L1 package (Levinson Stereo, moon roof) 17" wheels. This will be my first Lexus. Didn't want all the gadgets in ultra-lux package(plus just a little too much $).

Thumbs up

Speeden71, congrats on the recent Lexus purchase. The new LS430 seems amazing. The only thing that bothers an old hot rodder like myself is the lame 130mph speed govenor. But, don't let that bother you, please keep us posted on your experience with the latest Lexus!

jbrady,
Will definitely provide a report when I get it. I am not much of a motorhead but am a racing fan. Thus, my handle relates to #71 Dave Marcus - always rooting for the underdog. Also, would like to see #31 Mike Skinner win a race this year.
Regarding my Lexus order, I didn't even take a test drive. The dealer didn't have any and he had a waiting list of over 100 orders back in January. This is in the Atlanta metro area. My dad has had 2 lexus': ES300 and RX300. Swears they are the best cars he has ever owned. I did test drive a MB E430, nice car but overpriced and seems like all MB dealers are snooty. If you don't look like you have money, they aren't interested. Wonder how many sales they lose because of that attitute?
I have owned several GM products with the usual defects and breakdowns(93 Suburban - 4 radiators on warrantee, 95 Grand Prix - new pistons on warrantee due to high oil consumption).

Finally reached a point where I could swing a Lexus. Can't wait!

I've owned a lot of cars, and my Lexus is the best one I've ever had.

Thumbs up Lexus Quality! (Speeden71)

I am 19, and my parents were looking to get a new car in 1999. Looked into the Cadillac STS (previously had an older Mercedes - didn't want another althought good cars). After the caddy test drive they went to the Lexus dealership and test drove the LS 400 and were amazed at how well it drove - extreme comfort! The STS was pale in comparison!! One thing we laugh about is that Cadillac would actually charge you $50 to add an ash tray when the LS had three, illuminated, with lighters!! Not that it is EVER smoked in, but the attention to detail and quality! It was more expensive, but worth every penny. I'm sure that the LS430, being a new model and much imporved is astounding. I read that they took apart a used LS 400 to see where the weak points were and then improved upon that for the 430. Anyway, from then on my parents, and I were hooked. Lexus IS the best. I guess that is where they came up with the name for the new IS 300 (it IS the car...lol) So, i now have a 2000 RX 300 and love it! Such smooth power - a lexus trademark. Yes, another spoiled young kid! Hopefully we can alleviate the bad stereotypes of spoiled kids. Well, sorry for such a long message, but Speeden71, I really hope you are satisfied with your new lexus. I can almost guarantee that you will be. The V8 power and quietness in the LS is unparallelled (as with the GS too, but I have yet to drive one of those)

>attention to detail and quality!

Exactly! And the LS430 is no exception. I finally had an opportunity to look at one last weekend. Wow. The car is absolutely amazing. There were features in that car I had not previously imagined (it had the UltraLux package). But what equally amazed me was the attention to detail. Here are just a few examples: Pull down the roof handle and let it go back up on its' own. The thing is perfectly spring-ed to go back up smoothly and quietly. Ever had to reach over and move your passenger electric seat forward to make room for your back-seat friends? How awkward is that? On the LS430, they put buttons on the left side of the passenger seatback to provide convenient seat adjustment for the driver. Excellent! I bet you thought the dealer forgot to pull out the side mirrors. Put the key in the ignition. Nope, in fact, those mirrors fold out and then retract once the key is removed. And the improved motorized steering column is virtually inaudible.

The engineers who designed the LS430 did a truly amazing job. It wasn't marketing talk when they said they were asking for owner feedback and taking apart old LSes. They truly wanted to make the ultimate luxury automobile. I have little doubt that they have succeeded in making LS430 just that.
