Hey, I've just registered here, but I have been reading for a while.

I'm 16 and my mom is giving me her black 92 Lexus LS400 with 130k miles, gold package, chrome fenders.. nice except for the tacky 15" gold rims..

When I get this car into my posession, I plan on getting dark tint and eventually rims when I get some money. I'm also getting a system. However, I want to 'tune-up' the motor and other parts a little and make sure I am getting the maximum performance out of this strong V8. The car has been getting regular maintenance and service. Is there anything I should look for and make sure it is in good condition? Just any tips and things about owning and driving a 1st gen ls would be helpful.

Oh yeah and one question about audio.. the rear mounted stock sub sucks. When I get my subs in the trunk, can I just splice the wire going to the factory sub and wire it into the amp?

THANKS!

Welcome Sherwin,Tune ups for that model of LS is every 60,000 miles. You should change the water pump, tensior pulleys, timing belt, and probably the oils while you are at it.It will cost more at a Lexus dealer,I would look for a certified Lexus Mechanic.

You can do that to the wire I believe, but I do not think it will poduce much power out of it.Also you will get a poping sound everytime you turn your car on and off.I think EPK's brother had this problem with their LS.

The only bad side is that once you remove the factory 8 sub,the cap for it might start rattling because of the airflow.
