Step 3: See the splined shaft... Press the recline button and you will see the bar move but not the shaft.
I had to move mine over... most likely that is the problem with yours.
Step 4: Get in seat and adjust it perfectly - if you are using Glue you only get ONE chance or you'll just F it up later!
Step 3 + 4

Step 5:
(Apply Glue on the splines if you want to, I did...)
Then use a Flat head screwdriver to push on one of the nips sticking out of the bar. You may need to pry from the opposite side, be sure not to jar anything else while down there. Obviously push towards the splines and it will move - I promise.
Watch those knuckles!
All done see if it works and voila!
Put it back together.
You're done.

This is for all the help I've gotten from CL.
Thanks bros!

For those whom are not technically inclined (I managed to botch the job when I tried it), I used a low tech technique. . . I made a thread about it years ago. I called it the "push" technique. All you do is sit in the rear seat, put both feet on the seat back, and well. . . push.
I was forced to do so, as the seat was stuck (when I leaned it back), and I had no access to hand tools or this forum.

thanks alot pictures were helpful, also is there anyway you can get higher resolution pictures and draw arrows and stuff indicating where things are? I know it would have helped me, wish i had my cam with me or I would have done so

This thread actually helped with taking the back of the seat off, but the problem i have is that its the passenger side seat, and the seat works perfectly, but a friend of mine broke off the little plastic piece on the side of the seat panel that tilts the seat back and fourth, and now the seat is stuck in the all the way tilted forward position. Does anyone have any information on how to fix this!!!! any info will be helpful, thank you
