97 LS400 Door Open warning light
I just picked up my car from the body shop after having it painted due to scratches from hurricane debri. The warning light for door open is on, so I stopped the car and checked all the doors. They are all closed but the light won't go out. I searched the forum, and can't find where the switch is located on my 97 LS400. I looked all over the door trim and jam. I can't lock the door with the remote as it things one of the doors are open and the dome light stays lit as well. Any suggestions? I called the Lexus dealer but the service department is closed on the weekend.
Thanks in advance for any help.

This is very late on the topic, but check the DOME RR fuse in the power distribution panel under the hood. I had the door ajar light stuck on condition, and this was the fix for me. There is little documentation that I could find explaining just how many circuits are tied to/ and which fuse etc, so I spent way more time than I needed to checking door MPX modules, door wiring, door latch sensors etc. I hope this helps someone out there.
Regarding the sensing switch, our cars don't have it at the body side. It is at the door side. The sensing switch is built in the lock/unlock mechanism and the function can be checked measuring the conduction between pin #3 and #6 as is shown below.

THIS is why I come here to this site first. saved me SO much time. heat wave probably contributed to this fuse blowing, giving me the exact symptoms of "door shut but not shut?". changed the fuse with the spare (which seems to be the original spare that was put in by the manufacturer). blows my mind. 1997 Lexus ls400, about 220 thousand miles on it roughly..

Wow, I never knew this about the second gens. I know that 90-94 have the door switches on the body and not on the latches.
I wonder why Toyota made this change. Now, I'm going to be curious to see if other Toyota cars from the era have these door switches on the body or on the doors.
