Fan/Lights Weaker at Idle, Stronger at Rev???
What is the likely culprit when my car's electrical system seems to get stronger as the engine revs. At idle, my car's fan and lights get a little bit weaker. And then they get a bit weaker if I am steering at idle or very slow RPM, then stronger when I rev back up.
I'm guessing it's my alternator? But how do I know for sure if it's that, or whether to replace or not?
Thanks for any pointers in getting this resolved!

es has the same problem
ok, (i know i have an es) but our cars do the same thing. Its from the engine idleing really low. Apparently for the ES there is an over drive pully that when upgraded is supposed to help. Also some have retrofitted the toyota highlander alternator into their cars(higher output at idle). After replacing my battery and alternator i found that this is a common problem depending on the number of accessories on the electrical system. For me adding an aftermarket Alpine Headunit, Apple IPOD, 1000watt rockford amp; the problem really was apparent.
Also check your battery's negative ground terminal...make sure it is clean and making great contact.
Best of luck!
