Default Brake Wear message

Ok so I was stopping from 60 MPH and had to rather hard and the brake wear message pops up on the cluster. How much time do I have before something bad happens with the the brakes? I can't get the car in anywhere for awhile, too busy.

You have about 1/8" - 1/4" of pad left. which will get you around for a few weeks at least. However, the sensor is expendable and the filament has already been worn out to break the circuit. That's where Lexus will hit you with a bill for about $80-100. Plus the cost of the pads, and maybe resurfacing. Until you replace the sensor, the light will not go away. I soldered mine for free.

There is a wire at the tip which gets cut as the brakes erode. fill it up again with molten solder so there is a connection again. Don't worry, the solder will not melt the plastic.

OGS, i think what happened is when you installed the BBK u took the sensors off the car. easiest way to remedy this would be to just jump the connectors and weatherproof it.

The car had about 8k miles on it when I put the BBK on.

Know of any place (around the South Bay area) that can do that for me?

When you installed your new brake kit, you disconnected the sensor. Maybe they have no place for it. You should reconnect the sensor (plug it in) and then just let it hang loose or cut it short and splice it. For me the brake sensor is useless, as I check the amount of pad left everytime I rotate my tyres, and I'll replace the pads if they are remotely close.

I checked the box they gave me with all my stock stuff in it, but I don't see the plug looking thing.

It should be right there near the rotor right?

Yes, the tip touches the rotor when the pads wear out, then the wire burns off setting off the alarm.
