1991 Ls400
I am in the process of purchasing a 1991 LS400 and need advice for the following modifications I plan to do:
1. What is the off-set I need to get for 17" X8 wheels (front) and 17" X 9" (rear)? Is it a good choice? With 17" rims, the tires will have to be 50 series right?
2. I have been reading on this forum TIEN CS suspension. Is it a recommended setup? Does the set comes with all the bushings and mounts?
Thanks for all your advice in advance.

Welcome to the LS forum...
1. You should be safe with an offset of +35 to +42 depending on the disk setup. It depends if you want your wheels to be flush with the fenders or not. If you want a true staggered setup, then I'd suggest going with 8.5-9 width for the front and 10 for the rear. And if you don't mind sacrificing ride quality, 18's and above would look best IMHO. As for the tires, you don't necessarily have to go with a 50 series tire on a 17in. wheel, but it would fill the gap between the wheel well better than say, a 40 series tire. You should base your decision on what series tire to get by factoring in how much you plan on lowering the car since a fatter series tire may cause rubbing issues.
2. Tein discontinued the CS coilover model for the first generation LS400. Unless you know a source that carries what's left of them, or know someone who is selling a used set, it will be quite difficult to get your hands on a set of Tein CS coilovers.

Thanks for all the advise. This forum is great. Does anyone know where I can find the buyer's checklist guide for LS400? I have tried to search the net but cannot find a checklist guide (i.e. pre-purchase inspection checklist).
Thanks again
