Changing Starter
Hello everyone, wanted to know from those that have changed their starters, how many manifold and plenum gaskets do I need? I need to get my starter replaced and the work is going to be done by a Lexus Master Mechanic friend of mine and I'm trying to get all the parts required to do the job. Your help is appreciated. Also, where is a good location to get a starter cheaper than dealer?

HAH! I wish there were that many gaskets when I changed my starter.. lol.. man, you have to change all the fuel injector gaskets too.. I'm pretty sure every gasket broken during that process will have to be replaced. They are like 20 some gaskets i think, but they are cheap. It adds up though.. mine came to $80+ for the gaskets.
Leo, make sure you check out the EGR pipe while you are there. The EGR pipe generally is broken or cracked with our car's given mileage. I would check it out and buy that part as well, because its pretty much easy acess when changing the starter.

Hey Persian, thanks for pointing out the EGR pipe, I will sure look into that and you say about 20 gaskets, man that is alot of gaskets to replace. But if I need them I'll have to buy them. My friend only told me to get the Intake and Plenum gaskets, maybe he is going to put on the rest at no charge. I will sure ask him just to make sure I have everything needed.
Thanks RA40,
That is a pretty decent price for a remanufactured unit. I will check into this.
