My LS400 Key Broke!
My key broke the other day as I was starting the car. The metal key actually came out of the black case. But the plastic around the key was cracked so I guess it was going to have to happen at some point.
How do I get a new key? The dealer quoted me $189 for the key and $50 for programming. But I later talked to the manager there and he said that he'd give me the key at wholesale price and waive the activation. I'm not sure what that comes out to. What other options do I have?

They may kill me for this.
The other day My father managed to lock the only remaining key to a 96 LS he was working on , his cellphone & keys to his 90 LS in the trunk of my Moms 96 LS400. It was a Saturday.
AAA sent a reputable locksmith out that could not help on Sunday. I was amazed at how little progress he made. Monday morning we provided Sewell with a vin # & drove over to pick up a newly cut key for no charge.
Outstanding service!!
I see non programmable key blanks for very little money on ebay. Since mine is a 94 I never shop for the other remote keys.

Dealer price sounds like a pretty good deal! I have a gen1, dealer told me (when the same thing happened) that it would cost arond $300.00 to replace the system because Lexus no longer uses that "old technology." I ended up buying a new set of keys with a new ECU chip on E-bay for $130.00. I still have to cut the new keys so I'm thinking another $40 or so for that.

The dealer price ended up being $129 for the master remote, which ended being even better than Sewell's price. They also activated the key free of charge!
