Outside Temp Guage Skipping Numbers
I posted a question regarding this a while back and have not really had it it resolved.
I have a 04 LS 430 without Nav and I noticed that the outside temperature gauge always seems to skip certain numbers. It's no big deal but I wondered why Lexus would program the gauge this way, or if there is a problem.
For instance, it will skip two numbers for a few, then one, then two for a while again, then one, and so on. The curious thing is it always skips the same numbers. For example. it might show 39, 37, 36, 34, 32, 30, 28, 27, 25, etc. I'm not sure it this are the actual numbers it skips, but I just wanted to show the pattern.
When I got a call from Lexus about replacing my trans, I asked them if this is normal. They said they checked with a tech who said it should display each degree.
While I was at my dealer, a tech said that it takes a sample and displays the temp, which makes no sense because that would mean it's always sampling the same temps. I asked to check another LS, but as luck would have it, the service center got busy and I got tired of waiting around.
If anyone has noticed that their outside temp gauge acts the same way, I would appreciate hearing from you.
Thanks.

This is only a guess ... the equipment may be reading in Centigrade and software is used to convert to Fahrenheit. There is a 1.8 conversion factor between the two systems. Some temperature displays you buy for your home do this and it will appear that the same numbers are skipped.
