Default Transmission Screw up after little front bumper accident

I have a friend who has a first get LS400, and he's gotten into his third front fender bender. Nothing major, it just looks like the headlights got a little misaligned and the bumper indented. Now, the problem is that the transmission each of the times, goes screwy. Like the R position would become the P position and so on. The engine and so on are fine and properly in place even after the accident. Any ideas on what could be causing this?

Have him check the Neutral Safety Switch, sounds like it may have gotten out of adjustment due to the accident..
