This is a carry over from my high school days where saving every bit was important. With the stealers priced at $55+, that means I can pocket $25 of it. I change the oil twice a year and the $50 buys me CD's off that auction site for my driving pleasure. In addition, it takes me about a half-hour to complete the task.

Change every 2500 miles. Yes, by myself.

$10 for parts. 100% satisfaction.

I take it to Lexus of Tampa Bay ... with my Mobil 1 (they charge 10 bucs per Qt. for synthetic) + $30 bucs = 40 point inspection + carwash and interior vacuum + free movie and refreshments while I wait....

by the way, if they were to provide regular oil, its $40 bucs.

In your LS manual, it says 7500 miles with regular oil.

I know MANY that go 10K (mostly highway) between changes, without any problems at all w/Mobil 1.

You have to realize that more sales = more profit for them.

Default Those doing it themselves...

Those that change their own oil..

Where do you get your filter? What brand are you using?

I like to change my own oil too. I like being under the car inspecting the condition myself. I'm not a certified mechanic, but know what a cracked boot or leaking seal looks like. I also like to check the used oil out to see if any abnormal junk is in it. After driving SAABs for years, those cars would break down monthly and I'd have to repair one thing or anther. I was easy to become familar with the basics.

I do my own. Not much trouble, and you control what goes in! Moble 1 5W-30 is about $4/qt from costco. I use OEM filter from the dealer--about $8 each (w/ coupon).

always and everytime change every 2500 - 3000 miles. If you decide you will go for 5k or 15k or whatever with your mobil 1 oil or w/e...make sure you check your oil stick level.

I only spend 10-15 bux or less for oil change, i get the parts and oil from AutoZone.
Valvoline 5w-30 - 2 bux a quart
Fram Pro Filter - 5 bux
You under the hood doing oil change - priceless.
