My car was in for some unfortunate body work and during the repair, I was provided an '05 RX330. When I first got this thing, it was exciting...new car smell, lots of gadgets and adjusting to a new type of car. This RX only had 615 miles on the OD when I got the keys so it was nice to have this fresh a car..not a rattle or creak anywhere. Unlike other RX's, this one came from Kiyushu.

The adaptive headlights...way cool. On start-up, they level then each goes out then back in...what a nice light show. Going around the corner wasn't ever as much fun and to see it become illuminated! Wish
I had this. Mileage was good and I got a fabulous 324 miles on 3/4 tank with 45 miles left on the pooter.

Needless to say, trips to Costco were a breeze. Had a 25 gallon ice chest, a pack of toilet paper and the usual other stuffs. We even managed to make runs to the grocery store and still had room for more. With the LS, I'd have to come home to drop off.

Come the 7'th day though, I longed for the LS. Sweeping turns weren't fun and I had to take them timidly. Getting on the gas of the RX isn't bad but it doesn't have that feel the LS does...I missed that. Come the 13'th day...I was really missing the LS.

Sitting back in the LS this morning I felt like I was sitting on the ground. Not only that, I had become accustomed to the 10" of ground clearance. The first dip I drove the LS into reminded me quite harshly- GO EASY! The little creaks of the arm rest and other familiar sounds of the aging LS reminded us, "this is our car"...we were home.

Even though ours is 7 years different, the LS stands remarkably well to the new variants even the LS IMO. Would I buy an RX...possibly but an AWD variant.

The clincher, the UPS guy drove up and asked if we got a new car.

Great Story. It is always fun to drive a new rental car, but then I always long for the familiarity of my own machines, the personal touch, the memories. If I ever wanted a new car, I still have never felt that I would get rid of my old one for it. I just keep adding.

I had an '04 RX330 for a day in July while our 00 LS car was in for some warranty work. I did not like the RX at all - the ride was jiggly, the noise level was higher than I expected, and the handling was not exactly confidence inspiring. And worst of all, the visibility out the rear window was awful - I can see why a camera is an option. I had expected the RX to be much nicer.

The visibility out back was definitely a challenge, those pillars back there are monsterous! When I drove it, I didn't change lanes.

As I was telling the wife last night, some cars are just fun and there is a connection. That moment you sit in it, it says to you...YES!!! Those are the hard ones to walk away from. My test drive of the LS Sport at Taste of Lexus was like that. As nice as the rest of the Lexus line is, only the LS and GS evoke more of an experience with me. The GX and LX would probably grow on me if given the chance.
