Auto Dimming rearview mirror in 99 LS400

HI,

Ok, This is probably a dumb question but I have yet to figure out the difference between having the little green light for the autodimming mirror turned on or off. I just don't see the difference. What should I be looking for to know if it is working or not?

While at night, and key in the ON position (and not in REVERSE gear), turn on your interior lights, and you should notice the mirror darken quickly, and if it still didn’t make a believer out of you, press the button to see it go back to normal
